The Community Rehabilitation Service provides Occupational
Therapy and Neuropsychology services to clients in their own
environment. Treatment is tailored specifically to the needs of
each client, with a rehabilitation assistant carrying out some
of
the
treatment programmes.
The aim of the Community Rehabilitation Service is to enable clients to maximise their potential to function as independently as possible in activities of daily living at home and in the local community.
The service is of particular benefit to those who:-
- Are unable to attend their local rehabilitation centre;
- Are unwilling, for personal, social or behavioural reasons, to attend their local centre; or
- Need specific input relevant to their own environment, either at home or at work.
The benefit to clients include:-
- Improved ability to manage cognitive limitations;
- Improve socialising skills;
- Fatigue management;
- Improved understanding of the consequences of brain injury and the individual's strengths and needs;
- Greater independence within the home or work environment;
- Facilitation of return to work;
- Development of leisure activities to improve self esteem and community integration.
Guidance and recommendations are also given to family members
and care givers.
