Mellisa Alleyne BSc (Hons)

Mell_P_10_2014Case Manager / Occupational Therapist

Mell is an Occupational Therapist who graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2008. She has experience of working with both adults and children with various conditions, including physical disabilities, cognitive impairments, learning disabilities and complex neurological conditions.

Mell is passionate about working together with her clients to help them to achieve their goals and to enable them to be as independent as possible. She has worked with people in their own homes and with Statutory Services, and therefore has a good knowledge of personal budgets, care provision, housing adaptation and complex equipment, and moving and handling situations.

Mell has undertaken detailed assessments and reviews of individuals, and provided both verbal and written reports to identify specific needs, and proposed intervention plans using a problem solving approach to find solutions.

Mell has worked extensively with other professionals both in the health care setting and in social care, to provide multi-disciplinary support to the people she has worked with. This has entailed providing a coordinating role to organise this support and intervention.

In addition to her clinical roles she has worked as a Practice Consultant Occupational Therapist, which involved managing, supervising and appraising staff, providing consultation to other professionals and managing budgets. Within this role she also developed her working knowledge of safeguarding, mental capacity and best interests, and has gained further experience in risk assessment and management.

In addition to her Case Management role, Mell is also working with the Rehabilitation Team.

Mell is a member of BABICM at Registered Practitioner level and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
