REHABILITATION & MANUAL HANDLING

The Community Rehabilitation Service at ACM consists of experienced Neurological Occupational Therapists who support clients to work on the development or rehabilitation of skills following an accident, illness, or injury.

Our team are experienced in working with adults and children with a wide range of health-related conditions such as a brain injury, spinal injuries, orthopaedic and neurological conditions.

We focus on the individual to provide a bespoke assessment and treatment programme, focusing on the client’s own goals and review their progress using standardised outcome measures where appropriate. We focus on providing the right therapy at the right time, in the right place – be this their home, school, work, or place of leisure. We understand the cognitive, physical and environmental impact of a client’s impairments and build treatment programmes to rehabilitate or enable them to compensate for their difficulties.

We work alongside the full treatment team, along with the client and family, to ensure a holistic approach is followed to enable the client to achieve their goals.

Moving and Handling

We provide a bespoke moving and handling training service, developed in line with the client and family’s  goals and support worker needs. This includes comprehensive risk assessment of the current environment and equipment used, to ensure that manual handling tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Training is completed in line with current legislations and continuing best practice to ensure we are providing up to date guidance, including manual handling plans, to advise support workers with the use of equipment and the safest way to support with moving and handling tasks.
